Acrylic Paint & Collage Workshop-

Overview: Participants will explore how collage and acrylic paint work together to create layered, expressive mixed-media pieces. The session emphasizes approachable techniques, creative play, and the joy of making art in community.

What Participants Will Learn: 

• How to choose and prepare collage materials such as papers, ephemera, and textured elements

• Techniques for layering acrylic paint to build depth, cohesion, and visual interest

• Simple methods for combining color, pattern, and texture

• Strategies for loosening up creatively and trusting the process

Each participant will complete at least one mixed-media artwork and leave with the confidence and inspiration to continue exploring collage and acrylic techniques at home

Meet the artist:

 Kathy Badrak, Mixed Media Artist and community arts instructor whose work blends collage, acrylic techniques, and found ephemera to explore texture, color, and narrative. Her practice centers on experimentation and the creative potential of everyday materials, inviting viewers and students alike to discover beauty in the unexpected.

As an educator, Kathy is committed to creating welcoming, processdriven learning environments where participants of all experience levels can explore, take risks, and develop confidence in their artistic voice. She has led workshops, artclub sessions, and community classes focused on accessible, handson techniques that encourage curiosity and creative play. Her teaching emphasizes clear guidance, supportive instruction, and the belief that art-making is both a personal practice and a shared experience.

  • Time: 10:30-2:00p 

  • Location: Desert Spoon, 222 Granado Street

  • Instructor: Kathy Badrak 

  • Min age, 13 w an adult. 

  • All materials and light refreshments provided. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. 

  • We can’t give refunds but we can give you a store credit that can be applied to another class or anything you discover in the shop.
