Clay Hand-Building Workshop w Julie Newberg

Join Julie Newberg, Tularosa potter, July 26, 1-3P for an afternoon of getting your hands dirty while learning ceramic hand-building techniques. 

You’ll create a small dish or bowl. All materials are provided, including a selection of botanicals, stamps and other tools, though you’re welcome to bring your own (please keep under 3½ inches). You can return Aug 15 for an optional glazing session to learn more about the firing and glazing process. Or your finished  pieces will be glazed and fired by Julie and ready for pickup approximately two weeks after class.

About your instructor:

Ceramics artist Julie Newberg primarily creates hand-thrown pieces on the pottery wheel, featuring one-of-a-kind bowls, mugs, plates, vases and tea pots. As a recently relocated transplant to New Mexico, she celebrates the beauty and diversity of the natural landscape by incorporating the impressions of leaves from local trees into many of her pieces. Glazing is a favorite part of the pottery process for her, creating new designs and color combinations that compliments her work. 

Workshop Details

  • Dates: Sunday, July 26 (with an optional session Aug 15, 10a) 

  • Time: 1:00-3:00p 

  • Location: Desert Spoon, 222 Granado Street

  • Instructor: Julie Newberg, Tularosa, NM

  • Min age, 13 w an adult. 

  • All materials and light refreshments provided. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. 

  • We can’t do refunds but we can give you a store credit that can be applied to another class or anything you discover in the shop.
